Registration for 2016 season is Aug 1st - Sep 3rd. The Practice schedule is on the calendar below. Please contact me if you will be missing practice for any reason.
Cross Country (XC) is a super fun running sport that involves running through trails, woods, fields, and roads. A good course will involve multiple types of terrain, including grass, dirt/mud, hills, and even some pavement or gravel. The Thunderbolts are not affiliated with any school program, and as such cannot compete in any AHSAA sanctioned meets or other school sponsored meets. However, many local schools will include an "open" race just before or after a school meet. This gives our team a great chance to compete on the same course, on the same day, and in the same conditions as the school teams, and thus a great way to compare times. These are always a 5k race. We also incorporate a few team favorite road races. Toward the end of the season we compete in USATF and AAU sanctioned meets. In these meets, the athletes will compete in their age divisions, and in distances according to those age divisions. Most of these are qualifying meets for the National Jr. Olympics, giving our athletes a chance to compete against others from all over the country. Each year we have a great majority of our athletes qualify to go to Nationals. Below is a tentative race schedule, and a downloadable calendar. Please keep in mind that meets are added and deleted throughout the season, and I try my best to keep up with changing information. The majority of races are NOT mandatory, but are encouraged. The mandatory races are the CC Flyers Invitational and USATF meets. Our practice schedule is included on the calendar, and may also be subject to change. I try to have practices that are convenient to everyone, but my main concern is finding the most beneficial sites for running.
